Guest FRANKBARTHOLOMEW Posted 9 April , 2003 Share Posted 9 April , 2003 Hi, I was recently reading somewhere that, in order to remove older 'retired' officers from higher ranks, a maximum age limit for Brigadier-Generals was introduced. Does anyone know what that age limit was? Frank Bartholomew
Paul Reed Posted 9 April , 2003 Share Posted 9 April , 2003 Whatever it was, it cannot have been adherred to as Brig-Gen J.M.Richardson, died of wounds in March 1918 aged 69!
Guest FRANKBARTHOLOMEW Posted 21 April , 2003 Share Posted 21 April , 2003 To elaborate on this question, with thanks to Paul for his reply- I am specifically looking at the maximum age for Brigade Commanders. This rule was "supposedly" introduced due to a large number of 'oldies' being given Brigade Command. Through such action, the likes of Bernard Freyberg, Adrian Carton de Wiart, Thomas Blamey and Hubert Rees were given Brigade Commands despite their relative youth.
