Guest redrum Posted 27 August , 2004 Share Posted 27 August , 2004 Were these helmets with the distinctive half moon cut-out in the brim manufactured after 1918? Often referred to as "telephonist "helmet as well. I know they were used with a different liner pattern up to the start of WW2. I always believed they were only made during 1918 in a small amount and in size 64 (medium) shell. I have seen them in a larger shell size but declined to buy beacause I think these larger sizes are fakes. I stand to be corrected if anyone would like to reply. Guest Chip Minx Posted 28 August , 2004 Share Posted 28 August , 2004 redrum, According to everything that I have read, the M18 ear cut-out helmet was only manufactured by one company and in one size (Eisenhüttenwerk Thale, size 64). There are plenty of fakes on the market. Some are made from original ET 64 helmets. Also, if you find one with a different size marking, steer clear.
