I just recieved some new family documents emailed about my grandfather.

He was a driver in the motor division of the RASC in the Northwest frontier in 1918-1919.

Among them was a cardboard photo of a family called DAVYS a husband, wife and young daughter, sitting on a bench in a lush locale. On the reverse of the photo, there are Christmas and New Year's wishes printed, with no signature.

Unfortunately the photo seems to be too large to attach.

Any thoughts on why my grandfather would receive such a card?

Thank you

Jane

Just to add my grandfather was light car driver in RASC.

The man in the photo was a civilian dress .. and I wondered if the relationship had to do with being my grandfather's being a driver..

Would there be civilians working with the army in India?

I'll see if I can resize the photo...

Thank you

Jane

Yes, parts of the Indian Civil Service for example

Strange to say I visit a lady who was born 6th June 1915 and was Matron in charge at AMBALA post WW2.when it was an important Hospital. Your man could have been a small car driver attached to the hopital.

Greetings

I hope that you can show the photograph.

For re-sizing downwards for this forum I use PICASA:

http://picasa.google.co.uk/

Having found the photo I want in the Picasa album I play around with the EXPORT button until it is below 250K.

Good Luck! Harry
