FROGSMILE Posted 14 November , 2012 Share Posted 14 November , 2012 The Royal Berkshires had dark blue facings (collar and cuffs) and the enclosed images will give you an idea how their unifoms looked in 1914. The other ranks had a pointed cuff with a white edging as per the uppermost picture, but the officers had a more elaborate gold braid edging in the form of loops and knots on their cuffs, a gold laced collar and twisted gold cords on the shoulders which bore the badges of rank. The gold and crimson sashes and belts were worn for levees and plain crimson sash and white belt for full dress until 1902. From 1902 until 1914 the sashes moved to the waist (in a similar format) as per the lowermost picture which shows the final appearance before the outbreak of war in 1914.
