KevinBattle Posted 13 November , 2012 Share Posted 13 November , 2012 Can you please clarify why you chose this chap amongst the many Frederick Worsley military records? Do you have medals or records showing his Service Number, or photo of uniform etc so that you are sure he's the one? It would also help if you have a Date and/or Place of Birth, parents or siblings Names to help narrow it down? You can find more information about his Regiment, but without Battalion it's going to be hard to be more specific. The Medal Index Card shows entitlement to the British War and Victory medals so he wasn't posted Overseas until some time after 1915, but unless someone accesses the Medal Rolls themselves, the Battalion in the ELR isn't known. I doubt the medals would be inscribed as Royal Defence Corps which was primarily in UK and tended to be the elderly or otherwise less than A1 fit soldiers. It's also due to the fact that the Army used the same numbers in virtually every Battalion so you can have men with similar Regimental numbers but in totally separate Battalions, for example:- Name: WELLINGTON, BENJAMIN ARTHUR. Rank: Private. Trade: Signaller Service No: 35675. Date of Death: 15/06/1917. Age: 20 Regiment/Service: East Lancashire Regiment. 7th Bn. Panel Reference: Panel 34. Memorial: YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL Additional Information: Only son of Maude Mary Wellington, of 15, Westfield, Selby, Yorks., and the late Benjamin James Wellington. Name: CATLOW, H. Rank: Private Service No: 35679. Date of Death: 12/01/1918 Regiment/Service: East Lancashire Regiment. 2nd/4th Bn. Grave Reference: VII. D. 1. Cemetery: DOCHY FARM NEW BRITISH CEMETERY
