One for Terry

I photographed a Black Watch grave at Le Touret Military Cemetery to

No.20 Private F. SHIRRAN, 5TH Febuary 1915 (2nd Bn)

I also note that there is a

No.20 Private F. SHERRAN, 5TH Febuary 1915 (2nd Bn)

on the Le Touret Memorial.

Surely this is the same man, I dont know which is spelt correctly but if it is SHERRAN then the family may never have chance to visit his grave.

How do I enquire to sort this out as it looks like an error has occured.

A certain duplication.

The checking process has been initiated and the correction will be made in due course. It will take a while to go through the system as, even though it looks an open and shut case, great care is taken not to delete someone in error. I'll let you know when it is done.

Great.

I must admit this one has bugged me for a while!

It will be good to know which spelling is correct.

Thanks again

Today, Shirran has been accepted as a duplication and the incorrect entry for 'Sherran' has been deleted from the database.

This name will be removed from the Le Touret Memorial in due course.

Many thanks for all your work in this matter.

I must admit I am glad the correct spelling was Shirran as it would have been hellish if the family didnt know he had a grave to visit.
