Broznitsky Posted 12 November , 2012 Share Posted 12 November , 2012 At a recent presentation, I was asked something like "How many cemeteries are there in France/Belgium?" The lady was meaning First War, Imperial sites. Off the top of my head, I guessed 1,200. Was I even approximately right? Has anybody ever done a rough count on how many mostly 1914-1919 sites with mostly Imperial troops there are in Europe? An answer doesn't immediately jump out on the CWGC website. Terry Denham Posted 12 November , 2012 Share Posted 12 November , 2012 Peter You can check that on the CWGC website. 624 = Belgium 2943 = France That inlcudes memorials to the missing and all sites with a Commonwealth burial - not simnply those administered by CWGC. Broznitsky Posted 12 November , 2012 Author Share Posted 12 November , 2012 Thanks Terry. Would those numbers be for mostly Great War burials, or is it impossible to differentiate between FWW and SWW?
Terry Denham Posted 12 November , 2012 Share Posted 12 November , 2012 Peter Those are the numbers for WW1 locations only (a few will also contain WW2 burials)
