Medal - identification

Hi and Welcome to the Forum,

It may be some sort of Soldiers and Sailors Benevolent Society circa WW1, but I cannot work out what 'Scarnavia' stands for?

Presumably British Colonial, maybe Canadian or is it Scouts? Appears to have a Fleur de Lys between the flag poles and the figure below looks like a scout--I think!!

Scouts Army and Navy something!! Association?

Any ideas??

Robert

Hi rgood, is there any chance of getting a close-up shot of the medal itself (not the ribbon or SCARNAVIA clasp), both front & back?

Possibly an Australian school award, I found this snippet of explanation for the name on the clasp:

Scarnavia is a name from an old school story writing assignment,

I don't think there is an Australian connection. The flag on the right looks like the blue ensign. The 3 figures look like army, scouts and navy. This would make sense if it is pre-RAF days. I would suggest it is some kind of Scouting badge as it doesn't have a crown on top, but rather the scouting emblem!

Just a thought

Brian

I would go so far to say it may not be WW1 and may even be Boer War.
