Terry Carter Posted 31 October , 2012 Share Posted 31 October , 2012 2783 Pte William Sanders. I see by his MID on Ancestry he was probably IN TF. Because overseas date is 22 March 1915. It states he was discharged on 5 july 1916. Therefore he must have been wounded late 1915 or early 1916. Can any forum member find more info please. What battalion or actual date of wounding. (This is one for you Alan Tucker!!!!) Thanks Terry
ss002d6252 Posted 31 October , 2012 Share Posted 31 October , 2012 His SWB records shows: 1 Super Coy. 5th R. War R. (at the time of discharge) He enlisted 26 Oct 1914. His date of entry matches him being with the 5th when he went to France. http://www.1914-1918.net/warwicks.htm
Alan Tucker Posted 31 October , 2012 Share Posted 31 October , 2012 Answered by previous post although what proves that he could not have been the other three bns of 143 Bde who arrived at the same time - perhaps because he ended up in 5th Supernumary Company. I have nothing on him. Date of discharge does not help with date of wounding.

I have taken a look at SWB/ Service records for men recorded as 5th: 2289 1 May 1914 2369 15 Aug 1914 * 2410 31 Aug 1914 * 2421 31 Aug 1914 2783 26 Oct 1914 3127 5 Nov 1914 3521 24 Nov 1914 * 3647 12 Dec 1914 3671 16 Dec 1914 * confirmed as 5th Bn men from service records, No conclusive but it shows he falls within the right time for that number to be 5th Bn. Terry Carter Posted 31 October , 2012 Author Share Posted 31 October , 2012 Hello ss002d6252 and Alan Thankyou for your prompt replies. I will check the 5th RWR War Diary to see if he is mentioned Terry
Terry Carter Posted 2 November , 2012 Author Share Posted 2 November , 2012 Unfortunately having checked the war diary only officers are named. Two or's killed, three or's wounded for example. Terry
