Guest Toni34 Posted 29 October , 2012 Share Posted 29 October , 2012 My great grandfather, George Robert Drake, volunteered at the start of WWI but was unable to be sent overseas due to his age (42). He was RAMC Corporal 25362, having previously served in the Boer War with the 2nd Middlesex Regiment. His entry in the The National Roll of the Great War says that 'he was engaged in instructing and training recruits in stretcher, squad and company drill'. I attach a photograph of him and wondered if anyone knows where this instructing and training would have taken place.
