133.R Posted 27 October , 2012 Share Posted 27 October , 2012 Maybe I could get some opinions to this service dress. The facts: - All buttons are missing. The hooks are missing too. - The liner has light brown color with stitch under arm - The upper flaps of the breastpocket has no lining. - Also behind the buttons or buttonholes was never a lining. - Under the collar the typical double stitching - On the lower right arm remains of stitching... they would fit perfect for oversea chevrons - On the left and right arm remains of stitchings for lcpl chevrons - The jacket doesn't look like a typical post war pattern 1922 in my mind Now my questions or thoughts: - Canadian or british tunic ? - WW1 ..late war or post war ? - WW1 with later changing of the liner ? Khaki Posted 28 October , 2012 Share Posted 28 October , 2012 Hello Sven, Is there an interior label, a field dressing pocket, or any ink markings? regards khaki
Joe Sweeney Posted 28 October , 2012 Share Posted 28 October , 2012 Sven, Can we see a picture of the lining(inside)? we really need to see that. late in the war some details started changing--not sure what drove these changes--there were Pattern changes in 1918 with no narratives. Example---Not having the double stitch around the arm hole was done late in the war-I have a 1918 dated jacket worn by a Canadian in the 47th Bn. Your jacket, from the photos I see, could be one of the late-war jackets, but wont say unless we see the interior. Joe Sweeney
133.R Posted 29 October , 2012 Author Share Posted 29 October , 2012 Thanks for the first answers. Here are more images. There are two holes on each side of the collar with a distance from 3cm . Maybe for a collar badge ... but what kind of badge ? Should i complete this jacket ? There are no labels inside .Only a marking with ink A 180. Maybe a register number....
