Does anybody know anything about the above. He died of wounds in 1918 and is buried in Haringhe Military Cemetery. He was my wife's great uncle. He had a twin sister Jessie, and siblings Evelyn, Arthur, and Percy. They were all born in Leeds. We would love to hear anything about him and a Photo would be a dream come true.

There are service papers for him on Ancestry from initial service in the 13th Yorkshire Regiment.

He enlisted at Leeds on 9th August 1915, giving his age as 19 (He would have just turned 16). He was 5ft tall and his occupation was boot finisher.

On 29/2/1916 he was arrested and later tried by DCM and sentenced to 56 days detention for disobeying a command from a superior officer. He was discharged for lying about his age 24/5/1916.

Hi Llew,

There's nothing abut his later service in the papers, unfortunately.

They just relate to a brief underage stint a few years earlier.

Never mind, there is no mention of Edgar in the Battalion diary as per normal, but thought the days report might have given dirky some idea.

Thanks for the replies. He must have re enlisted if he was discharged as under age as of course he died of wounds in 1918. I hope someone will read this who is a family member so that I can learn more about him
