Remembered Today:

Thring's Grenade Gun

Good Morning,

does anybody know something about the device called 'Thring's Grenade Gun'. Anthony Saunders mentions the existence of a prototype in his book 'Reinventing Warfare 1914-1918' but gives no information besides the name and that it did not work as intended.

regards

Matt

Thank you! I was aware of the Landships link (which unfortunately does not say much), Google Books is notoriously hard to reach from Germany because the local publishing industry fights it tooth and nail. Which means that a lot lees is visible than in other countries and search results show up way down the list (thats the apology for me not seeing it before).

Still, the idea of a PIAT like or recoilless rifle like weapon in the Great War context is very intriguing. I wonder why the research in this direction was not pushed more vigorously.
