I have a question for you experts.

I thought I knew much about ww1 equipment but now a friend of mine found a telescope and it doesn't look familiar to me.

Sorry, can't take a pic for now, my digital camera is with someone else, on holidays :rolleyes:

a brief descreption:

about 40cm long (60cm when extended), bras, made in Manchester by J. Casartelli & son, 1917, nr 574, nr 5 mark II

if possible I'll take a picture and post it

could someone tell me for what reason/or by who (probably an officer) this was used for/by?

It has been dug up, and cleaned to new condition. A very nice piece of British equipment

I am pretty sure that the Telescope that you are describing is Telescope Sighting No 5 Mk II which was used with the 60 Pdr B.L. Gun. See attached photo.
