J T Gray Posted 16 August , 2004 Share Posted 16 August , 2004 I've attached a photo (mostly to show off I can do it and I've got them...) of my Grandfather's medals and wound stripe. Sooner or later it, or something similiar, will go in the Family History. I realise he's got a British War Medal, a Victory Medal and the Defence Medal - this was for Home Guard service and is a posthumous award. I'm just wondering what order they would have been worn assuming that he was alive to wear them. And yes, I do know that the ribbons are in a state! Apparently he was damned if he was going to spend money on new ribbon to go on his Home Guard uniform, so he cut it off his old ones! Why he put the paper clips in, and why they are (I assume...) with the clip side on the front of the medal I have no idea. Adrian
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 16 August , 2004 Share Posted 16 August , 2004 British War Medal (in middle) on left, Victory medal (on left) in middle, WW2 Defence medal (on right), on the right. Ian
J T Gray Posted 16 August , 2004 Author Share Posted 16 August , 2004 Many thanks, Ian. I guessed the Defence Medal went to the right but wasn't sure about the other two. A little fiddling in Photoshop is called for - either that or I borrow the digital camera again! Adrian
