Hi,

I'm trying to ascertain uniform configuration for the above regiment during 1915 (Loos). I'm currently researching a casualty from 10/HLI. Kilts or trousers/puttees? Any input or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

David

My understanding is that apart from (possibly) pipers all the HLI battalions at the battle wore trousers and puttees. There is good general information on one of the battalions here: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/20136/20136-h/20136-h.htm

Aside from pipers, only the 6th (City of Glasgow) and 9th (Glasgow Highland) Battalions of the HLI wore kilts. The Glasgow Highlanders dressed very similarly to The Black Watch.

Thanks all so much for the information  . The only reason I asked was that I was getting some differing information, or maybe it was me . The chap I'm researching was only 19 when he was killed. Thanks again.
