You can make a request for an article from the library. A couple of years ago I asked for something from 1940, I was out of luck but they were really helpful.

That is the newspapers address. You could try the Local studies at the main library. They have microfilm copies.

There is a James Killeen on a memorial but that is in a church a fair way from Mauds Lane. Actually on the opposite side of the river

Mauds Lane is still there but completely rebuilt from WW1 times

Hi.

I have a copy of the Newcastle Daily Journal from 22 May 1915 reporting James Killeen's death and listing his address as 25 Roker Avenue Sunderland. I'm happy to share this if you are interested.

I was wondering if you have a date of birth for James. I note from a reference on Ancestry he was born in India and I am trying to see if he is the same James Killeen I have in my family tree.

Hi Phil

The Newcastle Daily Journal is just a Roll of Honour as well, and probably has less detail than the one you have posted. It cites the same address but doesn't name his widow.

The article is on my work computer so I cannot access it for another week.

Can you confirm that the James Killeen No 7169 killed in France is definitely the same James Killeen who served in the Boer War? If they are the same then he is not my man. Do you have a date of birth?

Thanks, Phil

My James Killeen was born in India but wasn't born until 1892. If 3308 and 7169 are the same man, then 7169 isn't my man. I'll still post the article for you next week.
