mrjustinhayward Posted 7 July , 2012 Share Posted 7 July , 2012 Forgive me if this is "off topic" for I think this group photograph has a pre war feel to it. Would be grateful if anyone could assist in identifying this regiment? Many thanks in advance Justin H
Old Owl Posted 7 July , 2012 Share Posted 7 July , 2012 This appears to be Royal Engineers pre WW1 and obviously post Boer War.

FROGSMILE Posted 7 July , 2012 Share Posted 7 July , 2012 They appear to be members of a Volunteer Engineer unit (i.e. part-timers) going by the stars on the right forearm of the sergeant, which were not used by regulars. On his left forearm he has the badge for best shot in company - crossed rifles surmounted by a star.
