unknown bayonet

Hi to all,its been a while since,i've been on,work and family,takes its toll!i picked this bayonet up cheap from a local junk shop that deals in house clearance's and wondered if any of the members could identify it.i don't really collect bayonets,though i have half a dozen,they seem to find me!would be most grateful for any info received,many thanks,Paul.

Its a bit difficult to tell from the picture (he says hastily hedging his bets) but it looks to me like a bayonet for a Remington Rolling Block rifle - used by the French in WWI in 8mm Lebel and some used by Britiain in 7mm for mine-sinking (the rifles that is - not the bayonet!)

There is a picture of one here in on of S>S'sthreads.

Alternatively (and perhaps more likely given the quillon) it could be a bayonet for a Belgian Mauser. Are there any markings on it at all?

My guess on the basis of the picture you posted would be the latter - Belgian Mauser M1889 bayonet

Chris, i think you got it right the first time.! Its certainly not the latter (check the orientation of the press stud)
