4thGordons Posted 27 June , 2012 Share Posted 27 June , 2012 (edited) Its a bit difficult to tell from the picture (he says hastily hedging his bets) but it looks to me like a bayonet for a Remington Rolling Block rifle - used by the French in WWI in 8mm Lebel and some used by Britiain in 7mm for mine-sinking (the rifles that is - not the bayonet!) There is a picture of one here in on of S>S'sthreads. Alternatively (and perhaps more likely given the quillon) it could be a bayonet for a Belgian Mauser. Are there any markings on it at all? My guess on the basis of the picture you posted would be the latter - Belgian Mauser M1889 bayonet Chris Ed: there is a picture of the belgian bayonet later in the thread linked above Edited 27 June , 2012 by 4thGordons
shippingsteel Posted 28 June , 2012 Share Posted 28 June , 2012 Chris, i think you got it right the first time.! Its certainly not the latter (check the orientation of the press stud) Cheers, S>S
