Hi ,Sorry for jumping on the forum ,I only joined last night .

 

a colleague of mine believes his great uncle was a Cpl William Robson ,Service number 459378 ,He believes that Cpl Robson was awarded the MM  and that he was killed in August 1918 .

 

the Soldier could have been born in Bridlington  East Yorkshire,Can anyone please help shine a light on this please .Many Thanks

Hello Liam and welcome to the forum.

Take a look at the Long Long Trail link above as that has loads of information on how to search for a ww1 soldier.

It would probably be a good idea to start a new thread in the Soldiers section putting soldier's name and number (regiment if you know it) in the title, that way you will gain more attention than here.

He had more than one service number and served in the Royal Engineers entering France for the first time on 27th August 1915 (image of his medal index card courtesy of Ancestry free access)

The commemoration for this casualty has recently been transferred to this Memorial. However, it will not be possible to add his name to the Memorial immediately. Please contact the Commission before planning a visit, for more information.
