HERITAGE PLUS Posted 12 August , 2004 Share Posted 12 August , 2004 Grateful for any info on this man who died Wed. 19 May 1915 and is buried in Christchurch Churchyard, Hanham Near Bristol. Would like to know when and where he enlisted and if possible if he was involved in the Dogger Bank Action earlier in 1915. Thanks Dave
DirtyDick Posted 12 August , 2004 Share Posted 12 August , 2004 His ADM188 (ratings' service papers at the PRO/NA) should list any gratuities, along with the date and/or name of the action; and even if it doesn't it will list ships and dates upon which he served aboard, so you can work out with near certainty if he was at that action from a list of such vessels. They should also list place of birth and often has division to which he was attached (Portsmouth, Chatham, Plymouth etc.) Given his entirely numeric service number, he would have joined before 1907.
