jscott Posted 28 May , 2012 Share Posted 28 May , 2012 Hi all I am currently trying to assemble a collection of the infantry line regiment badges of the WW1 period, and had a question in relation to the Scottish badges. Whilst I feel comfortable differentiating originals from restrikes when it comes to the bi-metal badges (ie from a combination of the sweatholes, hairpin sliders, patina etc etc), I find it incredibly difficult to do the same with the Scottish badges. I normally only buy from established dealers and therefore feel pretty comfortable that the badges I purchase are legitimate, however I recently picked up Gordon Highlanders and Argyll/ Sutherland badges from an antique shop as they were going (very) cheap. Is there anything in particular I should be looking for to determine authenticity?? They have signs of age, the lugs look OK, the strike is detailed etc - anything else?? Many thanks, Jonathan
