Guest sharonm Posted 11 August , 2004 Share Posted 11 August , 2004 Hi Can anyone tell me if 9th Bn., Yorkshire Regiment would have had a badge or anything. Also could anyone let me know what areas/towns soldiers would have lived in to recruit for Yorkshire Regiment. Sharon
John Holmes Posted 11 August , 2004 Share Posted 11 August , 2004 Sharron, the battalion was raised in Richmond in September 1914 so I imagine many men came from around that area. The cap badge worn was the regular pattern Green Howards type. Hope this helps. John Holmes.

Bob Coulson Posted 11 August , 2004 Share Posted 11 August , 2004 Sharon, Yorkshire Regiment contained men from many areas however by far the biggest concentrations came from the modern day area of Teesside and south Durham. Your man enlisted in Middlesbrough. Bob.
