rcharlton Posted 13 May , 2012 Share Posted 13 May , 2012 Hey I am looking to try out whether the WYR was in India in the period of around 1911 - 1920. George Hancock (my other half's great grandfather) was in the West Yorkshire Regiment and the only detail I have is from the 1911 census (which provides regiment and rank) and his marriage certificate, which identifies his place of residence as Strensall barracks (in 1912). I have been unable to find out any more information (including military number) but it is believed he was posted in India and that they had a child born out there (who subsequently died, so no name is known). Does anybody have any idea where I could try to find out? I have tried ancestry and fmp to find George but failed so far. Many thanks Rhonda
