Warwicks Posted 29 April , 2012 Share Posted 29 April , 2012 All my reference books are with someone at the moment, and I've been asked if the British 1914 13 pounder and limber used the same size wheels? I wondered if anyone had the references to hand and would very kindly check for me please? Many thanks
Fat Frank Posted 29 April , 2012 Share Posted 29 April , 2012 Yes, all the wheels are the same size, even the 18 pndr and limber. If you need the exact sizes, I can let you have them. I am busy with 3 sets of wheels at the moment. I have the hand book somewhere. I can aslo post some pictures of the new wheels.
Warwicks Posted 29 April , 2012 Author Share Posted 29 April , 2012 Thanks for that, they look the same in the images that I've got but thought I would check. The frustrating thing is that the person asking me is the same person that has got all my books with the drawings!

Scaling from the drawings in Len Trawin's 'Early British Quick Firing Artillery', I'm getting 4' 8" to 4' 10", depending which diagram and scale I use. Fat Frank Posted 29 April , 2012 Share Posted 29 April , 2012 For that matter, the axle, hubs and pull rings are also similar. The 13/18 pndr also had a "wagon" (4 wheel) a "wagon" (2 wheel, spelt waCon in my hand book, could be a spello....), a cart, a cart, water and a cart, kitchen, a wagon, amulance Mk VI (4 wheel, back wheels similar) and a wagon, ambulance, light. The Ambulance Mk VI had the same wheels at the back only and the ambulance, light, had different, smaller, diameter wheels for all 4 (all the same as the front wheels of the Amb MK VI). The larger wheel is 4'8" with a 2 and 1/2 inch tire (yes, spelt "tire") and the smaller is 3'9" (tire width not listed) My list includes 62 different "vehicles", even a "Cart, Officers Mess" Hope this helps.
