TrevorHH Posted 15 April , 2012 Share Posted 15 April , 2012 Hi All I am at present helping a friend with her family history. Her parents Lieut Brough Gurney-Randall of the Graves Registration Unit, Salonika and Irene Syliva Stuart Churchill (who was serving there as a VAD) married at the GHQ Chapel Sslonika on the 2nd July 1918. If anyone has any info on or a photograph of the Chapel I would be most interested please. Thank you

apwright Posted 18 April , 2012 Share Posted 18 April , 2012 From September 1917, GHQ was housed in buildings and grounds of the Papafeio Orphanage. http://www.papafeio.gr/papafeio_today.jsp (Greek only) http://www.e-city.gr/thessaloniki/home/view_en/239.php There is a chapel there, dedicated to John the Baptist, but I can't find any photos of it at present. MartinWills Posted 21 May , 2012 Share Posted 21 May , 2012 There are quite a few period postcards of the "orphanage" with various descriptions such as "greek orphanage". "barracks" etc, but |I havwe not seen anything specifically relating to the chapel.
