Guest Natonstan Posted 7 April , 2012 Share Posted 7 April , 2012 Hello from Sheffield, England! I am an 18 year old who's Grandfather served in WW1, I have several medals, newspaper articles from 1918 as as some other miscellaneous items. I made a video with the items in the hopes that someone could shed some light on them, I will also get around to scanning the paper works later but for now here is the video:
ss002d6252 Posted 7 April , 2012 Share Posted 7 April , 2012 Gustav Heiser was a private in the Middlesex Regiment with the number G/45999. He was posted abroad sometime after 1 Jan 1916 and was awarded the British War and Victory Medals. There are a number of Heiser's who served - http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/search-results.asp?searchtype=browserefine&query=last_name%3dheiser&catid=10&pagenumber=1&querytype=1&mediaarray=* His service records have not survived but those of several other Heiser's have . http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?gl=39&rank=1&new=1&so=3&MSAV=1&msT=1&gss=ms_r_f-39&gsfn=gustav&gsln=heiser&cpxt=1&uidh=784&cp=
ss002d6252 Posted 7 April , 2012 Share Posted 7 April , 2012 Ive noticed you have a document in respect of the 58th German Infantry Division ( dated 1916) - its not part of your grandfathers military papers and its either another relatives or something he probably acquired during the war.
