Good afternoon, could someone help with identifying the nationality of the uniform that is worn by the officer whose photo is attached.herewith.

This soldier (Jack Henderson) is either a Scottish of the 9th Division (Cameron highlander) or a Canadian of the 10th canadian Division, 44th or 50th Infantry Batallion.

These troops were in Overijse (Belgium) between November 18th 1918 and March-April 1919.

Thanks for a reply

Hello Yves,

According to "The occupation of the Rhineland 1918-1929" ( Official history of the Great War) by Brig.-Gen Edmonds, the Second and Fourth Armies began their march to the Rhineland on 17 November 1918. On 1st December the Second Army enters Germany, the 9th Div. with its three Brigades was responsable for the area Benrath- Solingen. The Fourth Army controled in December 1918 the area between the lines; South of Brussels- Liege-Aachen and Philippeville-Dinant-Marche-St. Vith. I believe Overijse is in this area

I was not able to find Overijse in the book, sorry.

Jef

By the way, I cannot open your photograph of Jack Henderson
