4thGordons Posted 23 March , 2012 Share Posted 23 March , 2012 I just got this - outside my usual area but I have some acoutrements I want to display on an officer's jacket. Now I have it in hand I am having some second thoughts - would value expert input. Sleeves are lined with striped cotton material. It has a "ticket pocket" Interior is quite complex with large map pocket etc I can post any additional detailed pics that might be needed. TIA Chris

wainfleet Posted 24 March , 2012 Share Posted 24 March , 2012 With the ticket pocket, whipcord material and inside pockets I would say probably WW1 or very soon after. I'm not up on ribbons but if that's an IGS then it's likely to be 1st Battalion, in India throughout the war.

Going on the original cuff rank officers tunics I have in my collection, they are very long in the body, and the opened collar not as flared and the top pockets look very wide, this tunic has that inter-war look about it...and could have been made with period cloth
Staffsyeoman Posted 24 March , 2012 Share Posted 24 March , 2012 The ribbons are a Distinguished Service Order and and Indian General Service Medal 1908 (-35) Unusual combination without any WW1 medals (which would be a British War Medal only for active service in India)
