Can anyone help me understand, on how to read a French trench map. Thank you for reading my post.

Assuming the basic system is the same as French-drawn maps for the Salonika front. the grid is a 1km square. References are taken as decimal fractions of the sides of the square, quite unlike the British algebraic equations on their Western-Front maps. The 0,0 position of each square is the bottom left-hand corner.

On the majority of French trenchmaps,even though there can be three or four different types of grid referencing encountered (under two different projections), they are all read practically the same way as a modern OS map would be read.
