Identifying my grandad's uniform

Sorry about the quality of the photo, but can anyone identify my grandad's uniform/regiment? His name is Albert Edward Bennett and he was born on 7th December 1890.

I've looked for his MIC and service record but I can't tie it up so any clue re regiment would be a great help.

I know this is only in black and white, but has anyone any idea what the decoration above his left chest pocket represents?

To look at a photo of him, please click on the link.

As Munster already stated the unit would appear to be the RASC, and from the cap, collar badges and medal ribbands this is post-war. The ribbands up are for either the 1914 or 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.

The good news is that since he served after the war his records will still be held by the Ministry of Defence and accessible to family.

Steve.
