trajan Posted 13 March , 2012 Share Posted 13 March , 2012 Hi everyone, I need three of the above for display purposes (two hookie Lebels, one hookie Berthier Mk II), but the only ones I have been able to find on line are the Schipperfabrik ones (too expensive to post to here - more than the unit cost!) and those individually made by a US of A specialist (fantastic pieces, designed and made for practical use, but too expensive and well-made for my immediate needs). Hopefully there are some re-enactors out there who can advise me of a European supplier of these? I would be grateful! Trajan
Khaki Posted 13 March , 2012 Share Posted 13 March , 2012 Hi Trajan I would have thought that there would have been plenty of skilled leather workers in your part of the world who could make you what you want if you gave them the measurements and a photograph. regards khaki

Thanks! You're probably right, and that's an idea worth looking into - but it would be nice to have at least one actual prototype (replica or otherwise) for a guy to work from. Also, it would give me an advantage to know what a unit cost would be for one of these in the EU! Trajan

Simon127 Posted 13 March , 2012 Share Posted 13 March , 2012 Hi Trajan, Try this: greatwar.com. Put 'frog' in the search bar and some real ones should come up at the top. If you've not used them before they are a good company run by honest guys. Simon
trajan Posted 14 March , 2012 Author Share Posted 14 March , 2012 ...I have a French Mannlicher Berthier Bayonet and scabbard and frog.If you pm me a decent offer its yours, how does that sound?... Sounds wonderful, but Turkish Customs law forbids the import of any 'sharp implements (including camping knives)', which is why I can't even get onto e-bay... Don't ask me why they have this law - unless it is to protect the home-grown flick knife, gravity knife, and doner kebab carving knife industry, all of these being freely available in shops in town... Trajan ...Try this: greatwar.com. Thanks Simon, could be the solution! Trajan
trajan Posted 26 March , 2012 Author Share Posted 26 March , 2012 An update. I did find and ordered two from greatwar.com that are apparently film props and I'll pass on information when these arrive. But just as it goes, so it goes. While checking French sites for information of Lebel bayonets I found this one - http://www.site-anno...aionnette-lebel - with a nice selection or reproduction and real examples on various e-selling sites...
