Cpl Frederick Elijah DEW

1673 2/6 Bn, Gloucestershire Regiment

Died 13.01.19 Age 32

Commemorated: United Kingdom Book of Remembrance

Pte John GILROY

8902 5 Bn, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles)

Died 24.09.15 Age 42

Commemorated: Brookwood (United Kingdom 1914-1918) Memorial, Surrey

Gnr Henri Auguste LE MORZEDEC

89225 Royal Field Artillery

Died 26.06.21 Age 24

Commemorated: United Kingdom Book of Remembrance

NOT FORGOTTEN

The first three above were In From the Cold Project cases:

- Pte Devine tripped on a rope on guard duty and fell in a dock (Volunteer: Jim Grant)

- Cpl Dew died post-discharge of tuberculosis (Volunteer: Simon Dew)

- Pte Gilroy died of stomach cancer (Volunteer: John Hartley)

Recent research has shown that Corporal Dew is buried here. The Commission is in the process of adding his name to a screen wall to commemorate him as it is not possible to mark his actual grave.

Thanks for the heads up. I will contact CWGC to see if I can narrow down when it

might be completed so I can go along.

As an update, I am pleased to say that I have been notified by CWGC that my Great Grandfathers headstone

will be erected within the next 2 - 3 weeks. As soon as it is complete I will visit and post a photo.

Any idea on when LE MORZEDEC, HENRI (HENRY) AUGUSTE will receive his new CWGC headstone or who one may contact to find out, is there any ceremony being held afterwards? I'd like to know more if possible?

With regard to any ceremony that would have to be done locally as CWGC normally do not organise anything.

Recent research has shown that Private Gilroy is buried here. The Commission is in the process of producing a special memorial headstone to commemorate him as it is not possible to mark his actual grave.
