SFayers Posted 6 March , 2012 Share Posted 6 March , 2012 Hi folks, I'm aware that from the end of November 1917 the 1/9th Battalion Middlesex Regiment was with 53rd Brigade of the 18th Indian Division in Mesopotamia. I would like to trace the 'doings' of the battalion in 1918; could any forum members recommend any books that might help me? (I notice the 1/9th Middelsex war diary isn't currently available for download on the NA website.) Many thanks Steve
Johno7439 Posted 6 March , 2012 Share Posted 6 March , 2012 Steve - Naval and Military Press have an excellent book entitled "Die-Hards in the Great War (Middlesex Regiment)". It deals with all the Battalions raised by the regiment and should therefore include the 1/9th Battalion. I would also recommend a look at "An Account of the Operations of the 18th (Indian) Division in Mesopotamia", I have this myself and it gives a very good broad view of what the division was up to. If I knew how to drive computers better I would post a link, however I am but a novice. Your's Aye Ewan EDIT: My better half has now shown me how to do links! Here is the linky: Middlesex Link and for 18th (Indian) Div:18th Div Link
