Well done.

Was there anything more recorded about the 6th Schutzen Company (European settlers who were former members of rifle clubs)? Did they carry their own (civilian-purchased) arms?

Story

Schutzen Companies appear on Schutztruppe ORBATS until late in the war.

I believe that they did send suitable junior ranks to be machine gunners and NCOs in Askari Field Companies, but the Schutzen Companies did not fade away as quickly as the Official History suggests.

Maybe initially they carried their own civilian weapons (which in fact were probably military weapons supplied to Shooting Clubs as part of the local German Reserve Forces organisation) but ammunition supply would determine the weapon carried.

After the two blockade runners got through I would expects that all Europeans were carrying modern military rifles.

(A sequel to this action, describing the fighting around Kahe, should be posted on WFA soon.)
