Admin Michelle Young Posted 10 February , 2012 Admin Share Posted 10 February , 2012 Looks like post war, he has medal ribbons up and is wearing collar badges. Can you give a name please? The badges aren't very clear but possibly Royal Sussex Regiment? Michelle

squirrel Posted 10 February , 2012 Share Posted 10 February , 2012 Looks as if it may be 9th (Queen's Royal) Lancers in the second picture. Not sure on the first one though.
Staffsyeoman Posted 10 February , 2012 Share Posted 10 February , 2012 I would agree with Royal Army Ordnance Corps for the first picture, post-war. He is also a Wheelwright as identified by the badge on the sleeve. Send for 'Grumpy' - the expert on these badges on here. The second picture: I would disagree with 9th Lancers - that had a very identifiable '9' in the middle of its badge. I would propose that this is pre-amalgamation 21st Lancers. Sepoy Posted 10 February , 2012 Share Posted 10 February , 2012 Is there any chance of a close up of the cap badge in the first photograph - I wonder if the chap is in the Northumberland or Surrey Yeomanry..... Sepoy

Sepoy I too think it may well be Yeomanry, perhaps Surrey or Essex. It was common for regular cavalrymen to go on attachment as instructors. Staffsyeoman Posted 12 February , 2012 Share Posted 12 February , 2012 We go down this blind alley too often. He is post-war RAOC.
FROGSMILE Posted 12 February , 2012 Share Posted 12 February , 2012 I agree that the post 1918 RAOC is a strong contender. Collar badges were in the same form - I am not sure if the Yeomanry's were. and wheelwrights badge.
