rynegold Posted 1 February , 2012 Share Posted 1 February , 2012 I do not insinuate by way of posting on this forum that this is a WW1 knife although it could be from that era, rather I'm interested in the "whats" and this is as good a place to start as any.... (1) What is it?, what was it's intended use? (2) Where was it made? (3) What was it made from? That is; perhaps its an amalgamation of several different pieces. (4) When was it made? i.e. from dating the "parts" or perhaps someone actually knows for sure. thanks for any input... regards, m

trajan Posted 1 February , 2012 Share Posted 1 February , 2012 WAY out of my area of expertise (in WWI things!), but from my museum days in Bristle City, I would guess its a naval thing - short cutlass, for boarding. Any markings on it? That's what the experts will be asking! But whatever they say, it is nice to look at! Trajan
Greg Posted 1 February , 2012 Share Posted 1 February , 2012 I have seen similiar weapons. In the seventeenth and eighteenth century German foresters carried a short sword for despatching game. Greg
