CharlieBris Posted 30 January , 2012 Share Posted 30 January , 2012 Small minenwerfer on top of a war memorial at Amberley, Qld. Looks to be about 75mm calibre. Any ideas on its identity? The war memorials database says it's a German mortar but I haven't seen one like that. Regards, Charlie

CharlieBris Posted 30 January , 2012 Author Share Posted 30 January , 2012 The minenwerfer is quite tiny - the baseplate is perhaps 60cm long. The Rheinmetall designed mMW and sMW were much larger pieces. The projectile is a replica of a real one, which was stolen, is about 75mm calibre. It looks a bit like a Magener minenwerfer but that was 15cm calibre. Regards, Charlie
CharlieBris Posted 31 January , 2012 Author Share Posted 31 January , 2012 I've found more images - the final one is to give an idea of the scale of the mortar. The mortar has two recoil cylinders, or rather the remains of these, on top of the barrel.
