Zonnebeke roundabout sculpture

Hello all,

Could anyone tell me what the inscription reads on the modern sculpture on the roundabout up to Tyne Cot? Not easy to read froma moving vehicle, I got 'wij' and that was about it.

If it's the sculpture that looks like the words are written on teeth, it reads

Van het leven kenden wij sleuchts de dood doch de dood zal niet over hersen

I hope this is in the right order and that a Flemish speaker can translate for you (us)
