I've got a de-activated Lee Enfield 1917 SMLE Mkll which is in excellent condition, complete with brass oil bottle and weighted pull through cord (not original). The bolt action works (and can be partially stripped down), as does the safety catch. Sight screws work. Detachable magazine. Webbing sling (not original). 1907 bayonet to fit rifle, good condition and rust free in leather scabbard.

Any suggestions on value for 1) Insurance and

2) Sale should I decide to part with it?

Is there a "I" missing here? I suspect it is probably a MkIII* ("Mark Three Star")rather than a MkII, no?

No idea on deact values in the UK currently - sorry.

Decent standard bayonets go for about $60.00 in eBay US - and I just bought a sling, oil bottle and pull through for 10.00 but that was a bargain.

I suspect a quick browse of vendors would be your best bet to get a price for the rifle.

Tim,

SMLE MKIII* 1917 deact selling around £275-£350. A good 1907 from a dealer £65-75 they can be had more cheaply but you have to look quite hard. Sling around £4, oil bottle and pull thru, £4-5 for both.

regards

Mark
