dbgvardia Posted 5 December , 2011 Share Posted 5 December , 2011 Hey everybody! Newbie here. On holiday in france right now... Picked these up at a local flea market. They were next to a mint condition pair of french 1912/16 boots. I picked up both pairs. These however, are completely unknown to me. I figure they are WWI, but could not find ANY information regarding them. Any help on identification/worth? The lady had no clue what either pair was, so I got a good deal. http://i23.photobuck...btastic/1-4.jpg http://i23.photobuck...btastic/2-3.jpg http://i23.photobuck...btastic/3-3.jpg
Guest gordon wilson Posted 7 December , 2011 Share Posted 7 December , 2011 I had purchased a pair of similar footwear some time ago to use with a WW1 Canadian display. These were, I believe, from the 1930's judging by the toe caps as reference.. Mine are gone now, but what you have seems to be a transition from the m17 style to the more universal look. I'd guess at mid 1930-50's. As always, I stand to be corrected.
Tim P Posted 7 December , 2011 Share Posted 7 December , 2011 They show European sizing.
centurion Posted 7 December , 2011 Share Posted 7 December , 2011 They show European sizing. They show Mondopoint a shoe sizing system developed after WW2 and adopted in continental Europe in the 1980s - so they aint WW1 boots.

centurion Posted 9 December , 2011 Share Posted 9 December , 2011 How is that mondo point? 42 is European. And Europe adopted Mondopoint in the 1980s (read my post) so yes it is European as adopted in the 1980s
dbgvardia Posted 9 December , 2011 Author Share Posted 9 December , 2011 1323455260[/url]' post='1679392'] And Europe adopted Mondopoint in the 1980s (read my post) so yes it is European as adopted in the 1980s I'm trying to say that the boots are not sized in mondo point. Not that mondo point isn't new. Size 42 isnt mondo point, size 264 is. I did read your post, I'm not trying to argue.
