Guest dorothymwalker Posted 1 December , 2011 Share Posted 1 December , 2011 Hi there - need a photo or picture of the Royal Artillery Drivers Uniform before and during WW1 - the man I am researching was a driver when he enlisted (as they all were) but was promoted to Bombadier and a year later Corporal - he was discharged in 1906 I have a photo of him as a corporal and an illustration of the Bombadier uniform but nothing for driver. Just for the record he served 6 years in India - would the uniforms have been different i.e. tropical kit? He was then called up as a Special Reservist and left as Battery Quarter Sargent Major and I have photos of him in that uniform but it does not look like a 'dress' uniform? All contributions welcome! Thanks Dorothy
FROGSMILE Posted 1 December , 2011 Share Posted 1 December , 2011 This is an RA driver during the war Dorothy. Note especially the long whip, the bandolier (leather ammunition carrier) of men on mounted duties, his spurs and RA cap badge.
