acarrick Posted 22 November , 2011 Posted 22 November , 2011 I am researching a man who was posted from a Cyclists Battalion to a Royal Warwickshire Regiment battalion in early August 1916, but by the end of the month he was dead. Is it likely that he would have been issued with the stag badge in that period?
trenchtrotter Posted 22 November , 2011 Posted 22 November , 2011 Cant answer your question but the Warks would not appreciate a stag. It was an Antelope! TT
FROGSMILE Posted 22 November , 2011 Posted 22 November , 2011 I am researching a man who was posted from a Cyclists Battalion to a Royal Warwickshire Regiment battalion in early August 1916, but by the end of the month he was dead. Is it likely that he would have been issued with the stag badge in that period? Other than in the midst of a crisis like a retreat, or imminent defence in the face of an assault, it was (and still is) routine for a man to be processed on arrival in a new unit and as part of that processing (a form of reception) it would be usual for him to receive regimental insignia such as badge and shoulder titles along with other, more vital items.
