Remembered Today:

Great uncle Alfred

Fisher

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I am new to this forum and i have several posts that i will be submitting with reference to members of my family who served in both the army and navy in the first world war.

Firstly i am reserching my Great uncle, "Alfred Fisher" who was born in kent in 1881, i have attached a photo of him looking very smart in his uniform, but i cannot identify what regiment he would have served in, i believe it would be around the time of the first world war, i think i would be right in saying that this uniform would not be from the Boer war.

Any thoughts?

Mick

Mick,

Definitely an Australian uniform. There appear to be a few Alfred Fisher's who served in the A.I.F-

You will need to go through the service records at the National Archives to identify him-

Good luck.

Thank you very much for your reply, for the short space of time my post has been on this site the replies have been most helpfull and confirmed not only that he served with the A.I.F but also stayed in Australia with his brother Frederick, a distant cousin has been in touch with me who lives in Australia and has given me details about his family and i can now fill in any missing slots in my family tree.

Many thanks

Mick
