Fisher Posted 13 November , 2011 Posted 13 November , 2011 Hi all I am new to this forum and i have several posts that i will be submitting with reference to members of my family who served in both the army and navy in the first world war. Firstly i am reserching my Great uncle, "Alfred Fisher" who was born in kent in 1881, i have attached a photo of him looking very smart in his uniform, but i cannot identify what regiment he would have served in, i believe it would be around the time of the first world war, i think i would be right in saying that this uniform would not be from the Boer war. Any thoughts? Mick
delta Posted 13 November , 2011 Posted 13 November , 2011 Not an expert but looks like an Australian to me
Fisher Posted 13 November , 2011 Author Posted 13 November , 2011 Hi That may make sence as i have recently been contacted by a distant cousin from Austrailia who has a conection with my great uncle. Thanks for your reply Mick
Waddell Posted 13 November , 2011 Posted 13 November , 2011 Mick, Definitely an Australian uniform. There appear to be a few Alfred Fisher's who served in the A.I.F- http://www.aif.adfa.edu.au/search?type=search&name=alfred+fisher®Num=&place= You will need to go through the service records at the National Archives to identify him- http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/explore/defence/service-records/army-wwi.aspx Good luck. Scott
