It looks 'similar' to Army Service Corps, but it is not 100% clear.

Strange...actually looks like a Manchester Regiment helmet plate. Can we see the rest of the photo.

Braid on the cap may indicate COL or above I guess. Some sort of Staff Corps badge?

Hi

It looks very similar to the South African Police badge!

Perhaps the rest of the photo would help confirm?

Looks like a good match here. Early SAP badge. Crown was removed in 1957.

Hi Tim

I tried to load photo but to large and unfortunately as all old pictures is brownish. However i think you have solved my problem . The photo has a gentleman in a military looking uniform, Lt Colonel crown and star on the shoulder. can just see shoulder strap of sam browne. The cap is white top, coloured band with wavy raised pipping, looks like black peak with gold leaf rather than gold braid. I have now found that on the back is inscribed " Harry McNab South African War".

Advise please-- several others have given me the same info is there a means on the site to do a multiple reply or do I do it to each seperately

again many thanks for your help

Cheers Dennis,

Arthur is the one to thank!

Unsure about a multiple reply. If you mean in this thread then a post will do. I think you wioll have to cut and paste to post to other threads.
