terryb95 Posted 18 February , 2012 Share Posted 18 February , 2012 The last time that Field Punishment was used by the Australian Army was in Vietnam In the 1960s where a Gunner, after failing to attend a field punishment parade was awarded time in "restraints". Because his unit was engaged in combat operations at the time, the Battery Commander (BC), 105 FD BTY, was forced to handcuff him to a star picket in a weapon pit by day and handcuffed to a stretcher at night in the Orderly Room. The public outcry over this action and concern by the Australian Army would force the Australian Defence Force to cease "restraints" as a means of field punishment forever.
