Kate Wills Posted 20 October , 2011 Share Posted 20 October , 2011 Gunner J H Jebson, formerly stage and advertising manager of the Nuneaton Hippodrome, wrote home (130 Bracebridge Street, Nuneaton) in Ocober 1918 to say he was busy with the "corps concert party". He gave his address as: Gnr J H Jebson c/o CAROQN, Railhead, IEF, Italy What and where was CAROQN?
eh657 Posted 27 March , 2012 Share Posted 27 March , 2012 Re 'CAROQN' the meaning of this has really bugged me for several days, as I have no idea as to what it meant, except that I'm sure it was not a place name and almost certainly was an abbreviated military title of some sort, possibly connected to railhead operations (railheads were exceptionally well organised and busy places not just for the entrainment /detrainment of troops but all manner of stores and equipment). I hope someone more knowledgeable than me picks up on this.
