Tinhat47 Posted 13 October , 2011 Share Posted 13 October , 2011 I was surprised to see this on a site that adds funny captions on old photos. Their badges look large enough to be Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders, but I dont think the rest of the uniform matches up. They appear to be wearing plain kilts rather than khaki kilt aprons. Could they be London Scottish with hodden grey kilts or maybe Canadians with drab kilts?
Chris Foster Posted 13 October , 2011 Share Posted 13 October , 2011 I'd go with London Scottish. Regrads Chris
Peter Doyle Posted 13 October , 2011 Share Posted 13 October , 2011 Interestingly this image was used as a 'Tit-bits' coloured postcard issued during the war. I'll have a look for more info on my copy! Peter

SiegeGunner Posted 13 October , 2011 Share Posted 13 October , 2011 It seems unlikely that the Flying Scotsman's kilt would have remained so decorously deployed. Has he perhaps been 'touched up' ...
Matthew Posted 13 October , 2011 Share Posted 13 October , 2011 I'd go London Scottish; I can't see any tartan on the kilts. Thank the Lord for centripetal force I say (I think )!
Steven Broomfield Posted 13 October , 2011 Share Posted 13 October , 2011 An early example of the use of what is, I believe, called t*t tape. definitely London Jocks; I'm not entirely unconvinced that one or two aren't wearing the regiemntal diced hose.
