Hi all,

I understand that the Rifle Brigade wore black buttons on their tunics before and during WW1, how long after did they wear these black buttons?

Until they became part of The Royal Green Jackets in 1958, although the crown and marterial they were made from changed. They became the 3rd Battalion of the RGJ.

IIRC a WW1 button should be a strung bugle-horn under a kings crown made in composite material. If it has Rifle Brigade on it and is made from blackened brass it is post WW1.

This is the WW1 Rifle Brigade button, it was originally made of bone.
