BrendanLee Posted 1 October , 2011 Share Posted 1 October , 2011 Below is a link to RTE the Irish national TV website which recently showed a programme on Guy Penfield who was the first British officer shot dead during the 1916 Rising in Dublin. The programme is in Irish(Gaelic) but has English subtitles. Although some would consider the 1916 Rising in Ireland was not connected with WW1 the programme does tell an interesting story of the life and death of a British officer in the service of his country. The webpage also contains two other programmes in the Reabhlóid series, the one dated 26/09/2011 might also be of interest as it tells thestory of Margaret Skinnider a Scottish woman who fought during the Rising and was a sniper responsible for the death of at least two British soldiers http://www.rte.ie/player/#!v=1113120
